Persian Fire by Tom Holland

Here we go with the first 1 on the blog. I finished the book just because I wanted to see the argument he makes to support his inital thesis about greco persian war being something that shape the west up today and even have loose ties to 11.9 Terro atacks… But the Hollands book provides nothing in support of the argument done in the first few chapters. From the introduction of the Greeks and Persians (and Spartans) the Persians seemed like the most likeable ones. I hated the certainity with which the facts were introducetd. IT HAPPEND ALMOST 3000 YEARS AGO!!!. Maybe I was spiled by SPQR by Marry Beard but I think the facts, interpretations and authors thesis should be clearly recognizable in the texts. First half was pain, second half was at least and entertaining read.
